Commercial disputes
ANNOT assists clients in commercial disputes between companies, owners, business partners and other contractual parties. We work with clear litigation strategy, careful risk assessment and focus on the client’s commercial objectives.

Contract disputes, payment claims and ownership disputes
A commercial dispute may arise when parties disagree about their contract, the performance of an obligation or responsibility for a cost. For companies and owners, the dispute may affect both the business and an important commercial relationship.
ANNOT assists with disputes concerning breach of contract, payment claims, damages, ownership and collaboration agreements. We examine the contract, the parties’ conduct and the documents supporting their respective positions.
Negotiation, litigation and arbitration
Our work begins with an assessment of the legal position, the evidence and the commercial consequences. The client’s objectives guide our advice on presenting a claim or defence and evaluating the available options.
We represent clients in settlement negotiations, court proceedings and arbitration, both in bringing claims and defending against them. Where the parties wish to explore a joint resolution, commercial mediation may also be an option.
We assist with
- Early dispute assessments and litigation strategy.

Preparing for a dispute assessment
Contracts, correspondence, invoices and a chronology provide a starting point for the initial assessment. We help identify any additional documents needed and organise the evidence.
For disputes involving building projects or commercial premises, see construction and real estate law and commercial tenancy law.
